Developed by <b><a href="http://provast.nl/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Provast</span></a></b> and designed by architecture firm <b><a href="http://www.mvrdv.nl/en/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">MVRVD</span></a><span style="color: #0033cc;">, </span></b>Markthal (Market Hall) has housing, offices, an amazing indoor food market and one of the largest parking garages (underground) in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotterdam" target="_blank"><b>Rotterdam</b></a> - all self-contained in a very unique architectural package. </span><br />

The “positive” space within the arch contains the offices and apartments/condominiums and the negative space under the arch is the market.</span><br />

piece of property in Manhattan) is currently home to the Metropolitan Transit

develop the air rights over the sprawling rail yard and develop a mixed-use
community consisting of 10 high rise towers (office and residential), a 750,000
sf mall, 14 acre park, cultural spaces, a hotel and a school that will eclipse
10 million sf of development. Although on a much more massive scale, this

Meadowlands has been revived and will start construction in the coming
months. The project was originally
envisioned by the now defunct <b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mills_Corporation">Mills Corp,</a></b> which ran into financial challenges
during the economic collapse. The
property then passed to <b><a href="http://www.colonyinc.com/index3.html">Colony Capital</a></b> where they also were challenged
with keeping the project afloat. The
project sat dormant for several years until a deal was struck last year with <b><a href="http://triplefive.com/">TripleFive</a>,</b> the owner of the <b><a href="http://www.mallofamerica.com/home">Mall of America</a></b> and the <b><a href="http://www.wem.ca/">West Edmonton Mall</a></b>
in Canada.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

vision of the property, the complex will be a mix of retail and entertainment
with attractions including an indoor ski hill (first in North America) that
will also have a professional ski school, extreme snowboarding park and snow
365 days per year. Other attractions
include a glass-domed indoor amusement park, water park with surfing,
state-of-the-art movie complex, live music and performing arts theater, 200
foot diameter enclosed capsule observation wheel, indoor skating rink, bowling
alley and aquarium, miniature golf course, children’s museum, daycare
facilities, and dozens of eating options including international gourmet
cuisine.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

The development, originally proposed in 1999 will finally move forward with the signing of <b><a href="http://www.debenhams.com/">Debenhams</a></b> department store who will join <b><a href="http://www.primark.ie/">Penney’s</a> </b>(Primark, not JC), <b><a href="http://www.dunnesstores.ie/">Dunnes Stores</a></b> and <a href="http://www.tesco.ie/"><b>Tesco</b> </a>as the anchors for the project. An additional 26 retailers will also be part of the project as well as prime office space, 20+ apartments, and a parking garage that can accommodate 900+ cars. The nearly 400,000 sf mixed-use project will dedicate 260,000 to retail. Construction is expected to start late this year and be completed by 2013. Since that time, Peru has added on average 3 centers per year and now has a total of 39 centers. These new projects will bring the total to over 60 retail centers throughout the country.</span><br />

And as an editorial comment – what an amazing and wonderful country. The poverty that I witnessed there was not due to lack of effort. I have never experienced more hard working people than the Peruvians. I hope these new retail centers are an indication that Peru is developing that middle class. </span><br />

An additional 25,000 sf of office space resides above the retailers. When originally opened, the center boasted that 60% of the retailers were new to Northeastern Ohio. It is purported to be the second planned shopping center in the country at that time. Developers hope Colwood City Centre will become the western urban hub of the island and is currently reported to be one of the top three single-site projects in Canada.</span><br />

The Hilton Columbus Downtown will be a 550+ room hotel located across the street from the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The $140 million dollar project will boost Columbus' hotel rooms and hopefully tip the scales in their favor for the world class conventions that seem to pass over Columbus because of their lack of total beds (the missed opportunities are estimated to be an additional 900 trade shows, conventions and meeting).</span><br />

Two large cranes were the only clue that something was going on. But as the building begins to approach the elevation of high street, more activity will be evident as the steel structure will begin to frame out the size and shape of the building.</span><br />

The development, consisting of 155,000 SF, will be anchored by US based <b><a href="http://www.forever21.com/Default.asp?cookie_test=1">Forever 21</a></b> (their first in Scotland), two other large stores (yet to be named), other retail, restaurants, and 49 housing units. Construction is expected to start immediately and will be completed in 2013. </span><br />
